We all know that texting and driving is dangerous and has become a major cause of auto accidents, injuries and deaths. Teens are especially affected by this phenomenon with 97% saying it is dangerous, yet 43% admitting to texting while driving.
Anti-Texting Steering Wheel
Anti-Texting Steering Wheel is a hands-on wheel detector. When one, or both hands, are not on the steering wheel (for some seconds), a loudly buzzer starts. It could also send a command to reduce the speed!
Full Description
The main part is the steering wheel, which has some switches in parallel with resistors. Switches pushed bypass the resistors, modifying the input voltage to a comparator. When two switches are pushed output of the comparator is zero; otherwise the output is positive and starts a time delay, which triggers the alarm. Alarm starts a strong buzzer. It could also send a command to reduce the speed!
Additional Information
All drivers must always keep both hands on the steering wheel! Anti-Texting Steering Wheel can be set to start only at high speeds, making it attractive for fast cars. It is anti-texting, but also anti only one hand driving and anti-sleeping too! Before the driver to nap, the muscles relax and hands do not shake the wheel hard--so don't push the sensors. It is possible to record how many times it happens and to suspend the driver license for a period--a good reason not to text when driving!
